Greetings from the east coast, where I’m celebrating Thanksgiving with the family.
I am thankful for all of you. Your subscriptions and feedback make a huge difference in getting Go Long off of the ground. In year 1, it’s been much of what you would expect. Some wins, some losses. Always learning though.
If you haven’t checked out Go Long’s 1st podcast, give it a go. You’ll have the opportunity to hear from Melissa Bloom of Full Bloom Coaching. She goes into how you can set boundaries as you hurl into the holiday season. These lessons can also be applied to day-to-day life.
We have more podcasts coming so stay tuned on that front!
We don’t come back east every year for the holiday. As an example, last year we threw a Friendsgiving that involved a 23 lb. prime rib.
But as my folks get older, taking the opportunities to spend more time with them matters. We communicate fairly frequently, whether it is the weekly Zoom (Dad, who communicates via Bitmoji), texting (Mom, who always reminds us who’s birthday it is on a given day), or a phone call (Dad: “are we Zooming tonight?”).
It’s not the same as living here, but it does help. It’s been great catching up with friends and family with more to come this week.
Thanksgiving happens to be my favorite holiday because it’s not about the pressure of gift giving. For me, it’s about family, friends, food and, yes, football.
How am I setting boundaries this week?
I’m on vacation, sort of. This means I am eating and drinking all of the things. It also means I am hitting the gym. My priority is enjoying the week and not holding myself to any kind of structure when venturing out with family and friends.
What about you?
Go Long’s Black Friday offerings are moving at a rapid clip. You can still “Get into the Groove” for staying on track for the holidays based on your favorite 80s song. Prices go up on Saturday so get in while you can.
“Jump” - quick 1-hour consultation
“What a Feeling” - microaccountability for the month of December to keep you on track with your health goals
“Eye of the Tiger” - microaccountability plus ongoing coaching
Here’s wishing you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!
