Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! Yes, I’m dealing with some form of a food hangover from yesterday’s festivities. How about all of you?
I’m still having fun on the east coast and am taking in some of my LAWNG-ISLAND faves such as a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich from the local deli. Note that “Long Island” is actually one word when locals pronounce it.
For this week, my boundary has been enjoying my time while eating and drinking all of the things. Like many of you, I have some events on the books for December where I’ll be reveling. I’ll continue to pick and choose where I’ll indulge. It’s been a fun week with the family and our friends. Admittedly, getting to see Billy Joel at the Garden was pretty awesome. It just makes me very nostalgic for growing up on the “Island”.
As a reminder, today is the last day for some Black Friday action from Go Long. Have a couple of spots left in each offering so don’t hesitate!
These packages are all named after 80s songs - what’s not fun about that? Prices start at $99:
“Jump” - quick 1-hour consultation
“What a Feeling” - microaccountability for the month of December to keep you on track with your health goals
“Eye of the Tiger” - microaccountability plus ongoing coaching
Let’s get into some fun statistics around Thanksgiving because it’s my favorite holiday of the year.
Turkeys are the most popular Thanksgiving food, with over 46 million eaten each year. The average Thanksgiving turkey weighs about 16 pounds. Note that last year, we did prime rib. No one complained. Just something to think about.
Stuffing is the second most popular Thanksgiving food, with over 50 million pounds eaten each year. Other popular side dishes include mashed potatoes, green beans, and cranberry sauce.
Americans spend an average of $61.17 on Thanksgiving dinner ingredients. The cost of turkey has been rising in recent years, with the average price of a 16-pound turkey expected to be around $27.35 in 2023.
