Strength Training > Cardio
This week, I talked about how why you want to focus on strength training, whether it is pilates, weightlifting, etc. over cardio. This is something that applies to all genders, but to women in particular:
Perimenopause brings a whole new game to town when it comes to keeping fit and maintaining energy levels. It’s that tricky time before menopause kicks in full swing, and oh boy, does it toss a few curveballs your way. We're talking mood swings being as unpredictable as socks in a dryer, sleep that's as elusive as a parking spot at Costco on a Saturday, and those delightful hot flashes that make you feel like you're in your own personal summer in Arizona.
Myth Monday
This week’s ‘Myth Monday’ was around something that a social media influencer posted on how to engage your muscles properly.
Summary: If you’re squeezing, you’re not breathing (which is bad if you’re strength training). Listen below (under a minute).
Challenge of the Week
Have you been sticking to the same exercise routine but not seeing the results? Perhaps it is time for an “audit” or maybe we’ll call it a “re-evaluation”. If something you’re spending your valuable time on isn’t serving you well, why not make a change to your routine?
Thank you for spending time with Go Long. Your feedback and comments are always welcomed and appreciated.
Have a great weekend!
