Go Long in the Wild!
The kidney stone apparently likes me. It’s still here and is stubbornly not leaving. I’m still doing the 31-day challenge of getting outside for 10+ minutes within 15 minutes of waking up. This past weekend, we got up to the Olympic Peninsula for some hiking. Here is a post from one of our adventures:
I loved this post on LinkedIn from a woman in my network that talked about the virtues of how asynchronous communication can work for allow for GSD while also giving people the space they need to live their lives.
Talking about Boundaries and Burnout
Continuing on the theme of ‘Burnout 101’, this week’s post was about how not setting healthy boundaries can lead to burnout.
When you’re starting something and you’re finding that you’re enthusiastic about it, it can feel as though you found your purpose. You want to spend more time doing it. You want to learn as much as possible about the topic. You want to become an expert in it. However you decide to become more skilled in the area can vary, but it requires more of a time investment.
Perhaps it is earlier in your career when you have less responsibilities outside of work. As with anything, people generally stick with something as long as the pros outweigh the cons. The trick is understanding when that seesaw shifts to the cons outweighing the pros.
Myth Monday
This week’s Myth Monday discusses hormones! Lots of women over 40 struggle on their weight loss journey because they're focused on the wrong things. Your body works off of your hormones. Figuring out the right things to put in your body to optimize your hormones will set you up for success. I'm not talking about supplements. I'm talking about real food. Getting the movement in. And yes, getting enough rest and recovery to bring down the stress level to prevent burnout. Have a watch/listen.
